There are sooo many fun things going on around the city during the summer, that it was really kind of hard to narrow down my list of what to highlight for you! There are a few events not listed here that I want to make sure you know about, but they haven’t released their 2019 dates yet, so check back often for new additions to this list!
June 2019 Events
6/1/19: Pittsburgh Taco Fest
Who doesn’t love tacos?! A $10 general admission ticket gets you into the festival, which features more than 30 vendors and taco trucks, live music, and a children’s play area. There are two sessions available – afternoon or evening. There also is a $60 VIP Experience option, too!
6/7/19 – 6/16/19: Three Rivers Arts Festival
It seems like the Arts Festival is cursed by rain every.single.year. Even so, it is still a great time to get out and enjoy plenty of music and art! The festival is sprawling over three locations in Downtown Pittsburgh, and is one of those festivals that truly has something for all ages to enjoy!
6/8/19 – 6/9/19: Pittsburgh PrideFest
Pittsburgh Pride takes place June 1st through the 9th, and the PrideFest happens at the end of the week. Admission is free and features food, vendors, family fun areas, and entertainment. Keep an eye on the website for the headliners announcement for the event!
6/28/19 – 7/6/19: The Big Butler Fair
Every year growing up, we would make our rounds to the nearby county fairs, which is why I feel like I’d be doing you a great disservice to leave this one off of my list! Between the carnival, grandstand events, farm animals, and the Y108 Freedom Fest, there is no way you can miss this one. Check out the website for the full schedule of events, but you definitely don’t want to miss that demo derby!
Whatever you fancy to drink, this festival has got you covered. There are over 250 beers, wines, and cocktails to try during a daytime or evening session, all while overlooking downtown Pittsburgh from the beautiful PNC Park. There will be live entertainment and the opportunity to walk the bases, too!
July 2019 Events
If there is one thing people in this city love, it is our fireworks! The free event starts at noon with food and entertainment during the day that continues until the big fireworks show at 9:35pm on the river. Whether you watch the fireworks show live or on TV, it’s definitely a can’t-miss!
7/12/19 – 7/13/19: Deutschtown Music Festival
Like music? If so, you should plan to check out this free indoor/outdoor musical festival held on the Northside of Pittsburgh. With over 300 bands, a beer garden, food trucks, kid’s activities, and an artist’s market, there really is something for everyone!
7/12/19 – 7/14/19: Vintage Market Days
Just looking at this website makes my “Fixer Upper” heart happy! This 3-day event features vendors selling a variety of upscale, vintage goods. Tickets are only $5 per day, and children under 12 are free.
7/18/19 – 7/20/19: Zelienople Horse Trading Days
While the name of this event may fool you, this festival has a lot more than horse trading going on! If you’ve never been to Zelienople, it is hands down one of my favorite little towns north of the city. This weekend event features live entertainment, great local food, local vendors, crafts, and plenty of fun activities for the kiddos. My family never misses it!
7/20/19 – 7/21/19: Pittsburgh Grand Prix Race Weekend
If it is something you’ve never done before, watching vintage street racing should be something you plan to check out this year! Different events go on all week leading up to the race weekend, but the races are the highlight events. Check out the website for more details!
August 2019 Events
8/3/19 – 8/5/19: EQT Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta
Where to even begin with all the fun activities going on this weekend?? From the live music acts, including headliner Sugar Ray, to the river activities, featuring jet-skit freestyle championships and powerboat racing, and the Red Bull Air Force aerial skydivers, this event has plenty of excitement going on! This is also a family friendly event, with plenty of things for kids to do, and, in true Pittsburgh fashion, fireworks will light the sky on Saturday night!
8/15/19 – 8/18/19: Little Italy Days Italian Festival
This is for sure one of those festivals that I do not miss. Seriously, you must go. If you love all things Italian food, you will be in awe of all of the local food offerings that you can chow down on during the extended weekend-long festival. There also is live music, tons of different vendors, and even a Bocce tournament!
8/29/19 – 9/2/19: 2019 Heinz Field Kickoff and Rib Fest
Okay, so remember a minute ago when I said that I never miss Little Italy Days and gushed about the food? I love Rib Fest even more. In fact, every year, I go at least twice. My husband and I usually each get a huge combo platter from two different places and compare them. And while I leave completely stuffed, I always want more! There is a lot more that goes on with this event than BBQ, but I’ll let you do the research on that because if I’m being honest, I’m only there for the food!
