Springtime in Pittsburgh…one of the most unpredictable weather times in the city if you ask me. For instance, some years the St. Patrick’s Day parade is on a gorgeous, sunny day, and the next year it’s super cold and rainy, possibly even snowing! But, if there is one thing that I have learned about Pittsburghers, it’s that they don’t let a little weather keep them from a good time!!
Whether you are new to the city, or have lived here all of your life, there are a wide variety of events and activities going on this spring to give you a reason to get out of the house and shake off a little of that cabin fever from our chilly winter. Check out the list below to find some of the awesome things going on around Pittsburgh this spring!

March 2019 Events
3/1/19 – 3/10/19: Pittsburgh Home & Garden Show
If you haven’t gone before, this is a must for your list! There are over 10 acres of various vendors with everything for your home that you could imagine. Even if you aren’t a homeowner, there are plenty of food & wine samples to keep you interested!
3/8/19 – 3/10/19: Pittsburgh Tattoo Expo
Fun fact about me – I love tattoos and have a few. You can spend your weekend taking a look at some great work by some local artists, and you can even choose to get a tattoo or piercing while you are there! There’s also the Miss Pittsburgh Pinup contest going on during the expo.
3/15/19 – 3/17/19: Pittsburgh Creative Arts Festival
Where are all my old souls at? Previously known as the Pittsburgh Knit & Crochet Festival, this is a great event if you are into creative arts of any kind. You’ll find vendors, exhibitions, special events, and classes at this festival. I’ve gone to this event in the past & definitely recommend it!
3/16/19: St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Did you know that Pittsburgh’s parade is the 2nd largest in the world? I didn’t, but St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in Pittsburgh are not something to be missed! Long before I lived here, I would come down every year to join in the celebrations. Are yinz Irish? Parade starts at 10am!
This one is for all the future brides and grooms out there – over 200 vendors and two fashion shows will be at this event to help you plan your big day! Tickets are available at the link above, and discounted rates are available if you bring your whole bridal party with you (up to 7 people).
April 2019 Events
4/1/19: Pittsburgh Pirates Home Opener
Say what you will about the team, but the home opener still brings in a large crowd every year. Could it be more for the tailgating and unbeatable views of the city that you get from the stadium? Maybe, but there also is that anticipation of what this season could bring for the team that keeps fans coming back for more.
4/12/19 – 4/14/19: Steel City Comic Con
Held at the Monroeville Convention Center, this year’s event has so many scheduled celebrity appearances, including Pauly Shore, Rob Schneider, and William Shatner! You can find all of the details and full celebrity appearance list on the event website at the link above.
4/14/19: Taste of Lawrenceville
It’s no secret that Lawrenceville has been thought of as the up-and-coming area of Pittsburgh over the past couple of years. This event gives you a chance to sample some of the best the neighborhood has to offer from the local restaurants and breweries, and also includes live music and kid’s activities.
4/14/19: Walk MS Pittsburgh 2019
This is an event that is very near & dear to my heart, as a very close friend of mine was recently diagnosed with MS. I encourage you to visit the site and donate, or participate in the walk, to support this cause!
If you have never been to Phipps Conservatory, I would add this one to your Pittsburgh bucket list. Keep an eye on their website for all of their special events throughout the year – they are all worth seeing!
May 2019 Events
5/1/19: Pittsburgh Wine Festival 2019
This one is for all the winos out there! This year’s festival is being held at Heinz Field with over 500 different wines to sample. There will also be special tastings and educational seminars going on during the event.
